A little about me...
Snorkeling in Hawaii
Hi, I'm Anne, the PE, Swim and Health teacher at Ann Arbor Open. A little about myself: I graduated from Grand Valley State with a degree in Athletic Training, with a Psychology minor, and began practicing as an Athletic Trainer at Pioneer High School in 1992. After a few years I decided to pursue my teaching degree, so I returned to school at University of Michigan for a degree in Physical Education and Health. I began teaching PE and Health at Tappan in 1997. I was the Head Athletic Trainer at Pioneer and a teacher at Tappan until my move to AAO. I have also gone to graduate school at University of Phoenix for my Masters in Education, Curriculum and Instruction. As a part of my medical training as an Athletic Trainer I became a licensed EMT in 1995, and continue to hold that license.
I am also a founding member of a committee at AAPS called SHIFT (Sexual Health Initiative for Transformation). This is a grant through the Michigan Department of Education. Please see http://aapsshift.weebly.com/ for more details.
I began working on my MSW in 2016, with plans to move into Clinical Social Work in 2020.
In my spare time I enjoy traveling, reading, movies, playing hockey, games, and just having fun. I have been riding motorcycles since 2001 and in February of 2011 I accomplished one of my goals of riding in all 50 states when I rented a bike in Hawaii (see pic). I have a brother that lives in Italy and travel to Europe about every five years.
I have thoroughly enjoy AAO! I love the people, the kids, the environment, and the community. It's such an amazing place!! I look forward to enjoying the program in both the gym and in the pool and working with your child.
